Meet Dr. Dan jarzemsky

Open Arms Free Clinic is pleased to announce the appointment of Daniel Jarzemsky, MD, as the clinic’s new Medical Director. Dr. Dan has been a dedicated OAFC volunteer since 2019. In this new role, he will be responsible for providing clinical guidance and consultation for delivery of safe, competent, ethical, and quality patient care. Dr. Dan will work together with Dr. Craig Thomas, OAFC Dental Director, as Open Arms continues to provide our patients with care that integrates all aspects of health and wellness.

“I look forward to my new role as Medical Director,” said Dr. Dan, “and will work to provide high-quality, compassionate, and cost-effective care to our patients, and to support the positive energy and kinship of the OAFC staff.”

Dr. Dan graduated from Rush Medical College in Chicago and completed a rural Family Medicine residency in Wausau through the University of Wisconsin Medical School. In 1984, he began his family medicine career in Cross Plains, Wisconsin, and was privileged to provide office and hospital care to generations of loyal patients. During his career, he also served as a nursing home Medical Director, Director of the local EMS service, and Professor at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine.

He retired as full Professor in Family Medicine at the University of Wisconsin Medical School in November 2019. That same year, he and his wife Paula began volunteering at OAFC, where both serve as dedicated clinicians. Dr. Dan provides his expertise as a physician, and Paula, who taught at the University of Wisconsin School of Nursing for 30 years, provides her expertise as a nurse.

As Open Arms provides health care with dignity and respect to an ever increasing number of patients, we are grateful for Dr. Dan’s guidance.
